
Russian based businesses often face necessity to hire foreign staff. In order to obtain legal right to do so, employers as well as potential employees are obliged to do through certain procedures:
- In order to enter Russia, a foreign employee should obtain a visa supported by the employer. In order to have the right to issue visa support, the employer must be registered with the special Home Affairs Dept called OVIR.
- Each foreign citizen entering Russia on any kind of visa should have on hand a Migration Card, and should be temporary registered with OVIR when staying on the territory of the Russian Federation.
- In order to have the right to hire foreign employees, a Russian-based company should obtain a Permit from the Migration Service. Each Permit is personalized and lists the employees named by the employer. Employer pays specific fees for each person specified. The Permit is given for the period of one year.
- After Company Permit is received, each employee should obtain personal Work Permit in order to have the right to legally work in Russia. This individual Work Permit is employer specific.
Representative offices of foreign companies should obtain Personal accreditation for foreign employees and their family members.
